Gaze falls upon the candle
It’s gaze upon I
No space between
No difference
Species entwined with element
Man’s first discovery
As fragile as it’s inventor
So we watch and we stare
Examine the flicker
Fragility and strength
A kinship we feel
For mortality we know
Yet strength we hold
But still we flicker
And some day fade
