As eye of night
closes over me, dear
I write this letter to you

I see why light
almost never came near
to smite the debtor of youth

Fettered, muffled cries
in a tin can of sighs
Tinnitus ringing anon

Batting off flies
I stop and I realise
the tin and its ringing are gone

Our spells plastered on
the white mastodon
whose ivory arcs t’wards sky

Prison cells can kill none
Cocons libèrent les papillons
I and I and thee; archer and eye

As bell strikes thrice
and owls startle mice
Dark draws me gently downstream

Through hail and ice
I grasp now the dice
Embark upon course to The dream
