Clutching the Core

They were looking for Ambrosia
But nothing grows here
save rows of dead roses that arose from proposal feared
Supposedly solid stone edifice, veneer

For nigh on ten years my inability to steer
has brought nothing but division, derision, decisions unclear
But fear has whispered in many an ear
Your head shakes, heart quakes, fear never disappears
You realise what is missing here…

Clenched fists, calcified tears, squandered careers
The deafening echo of childhood jeers
Wild wood sneers at this throng as it nears
Song in my heart bursts through fog as it clears
My Promethean spark for those drawn near, held dear
as I rise from the flames, clutching Destiny’s spear
