Happenings in a May Day Room

Deftly, he wiped laughter from his brow

Alone now

Ensconced in warm solitude

refreshing brew, stewed food

Mood marches aloft

soaring o’er half quaffed

carafes of questionable vintage

Glimpsed glint of distant Summer warmth

springs forth through Spring’s thoughtful fingers

Lingers awhile, raises a smile

that creeps across the face

Ice cracking on thawing teardrop river

which left fissures in facia

sliver of bitter truth

in wounds wreaked by Winter
