Human Currency

Misanthropy cold grows in the city tonight, fellows
It follows, it creeps through the streets in staggering leaps and bounds
It seeps deep into fissures in minds of suspicious men
Bent by acknowledgement that we are too many together
Tethered to pointless endeavour
In the everlasting insistence on inverted economics,
the weak upon it’s axis ever turning, turning, turning
Yearning for learning above earning, but bound to the latter all the same
By a system that came quick, slick and confident
And bound us in shackles of hate for each other
